Attendance is the record everything else in Adult Day Genie builds on. This article explains the check-in methods, how consent for face check-in works, and why the attendance history is append-only.
Two check-in methods
Adult Day Genie checks a member in by face check-in (with consent) or manual check-in. At the door, staff tap the member's name; if the member has consent on file, the camera confirms their face and the entry is recorded with that verification. Otherwise, staff record the check-in manually. Both methods produce a timestamped entry that shows who recorded it.
Consent for face check-in
Face check-in is used only for members with documented consent, which a guardian can sign where appropriate. Consent is recorded on the member's profile and can be withdrawn at any time — the member simply moves to manual check-in from that point on. Adult Day Genie provides a HIPAA Business Associate Agreement with every center, and check-in data is handled under it.
Manual check-in is always available
Manual check-in is not a fallback of last resort; it is a first-class method that is always available for every member. A member who declines face verification, a camera that cannot get a clear view, or a busy doorway never blocks service — staff tap the name, record the arrival, and move on.
The Kiosk app for iPad
Centers that want members to check themselves in can put the Adult Day Genie Kiosk app on an iPad at the front desk. In Kiosk Mode, members check in and out on their own: by face, for members the center has enrolled (face matching runs on the tablet), or by name with search, confirm, and a signature. Staff can open today's list and check anyone in or out, and can clock in and out with a personal kiosk PIN when the center turns that on.
- Sign in with your existing center account; the app has no separate sign-up.
- Choose which features each tablet offers, and sign a tablet out remotely, from Settings → Kiosk in the web app.
- Every kiosk check-in lands on the same append-only attendance record as the web app.
- Works on iPad today; Android tablets are coming soon.
For installation, sign-in, each screen, Guided Access, and troubleshooting, read the full guide: Using the Kiosk app.
The append-only history
Attendance entries in Adult Day Genie cannot be edited or deleted — the database blocks it. Every change is a new entry appended to the history, so the record always shows what was originally captured, what changed later, who changed it, and when. That is what makes the history trustworthy when a payer or reviewer looks at it months later.
Correcting a record
Mistakes happen — a missed check-out, a member checked in under the wrong name. To fix one, add a correction: the new entry records the corrected information alongside the original. Nothing is hidden, so your exports show reviewers an honest trail rather than a cleaned-up one.
- Make corrections the same day where possible, while details are fresh.
- Use the note field to say why the correction was needed.
- Review the daily attendance report before closing out the day.
A note on terminology: federal EVV requirements apply to certain Medicaid personal care and home health services delivered through in-home visits — not to center-based adult day programs. Adult Day Genie provides EVV-grade attendance verification built for the building, where EVV mandates do not reach. See Does EVV apply to adult day care? for the full explanation.
