Adult Day Genie is designed so a center can go from a new account to a working day in one sitting. This guide walks through the setup order that works best: team first, then members, then the check-in device, then your first day of attendance.
What you need before you start
Gather three things: a list of the staff who need accounts, your current member roster with contact details, and the tablet or computer you plan to place at the door for check-in. Any modern web browser works — Adult Day Genie is a web application at app.adcsoftware.com, so there is nothing to install.
Add your team
Create an account for each staff member who will record attendance, complete forms, or send family updates. Give each person their own login rather than sharing one — every entry in the record shows who made it, and that only means something when logins are individual.
Add members
Create a profile for each member with their contact information and authorized contacts. If a member or their guardian consents to face check-in, capture that consent as part of the profile; members without consent simply use manual check-in. See Members and care plans for the details that are worth entering on day one.
Set up the check-in device
Place a tablet or computer near the entrance and open the check-in screen. Staff tap a member's name as they arrive; for members with consent on file, the camera confirms the face. Face check-in with consent and manual check-in are the everyday methods, and manual is always available for every member.
If you would rather have members check themselves in, install the Adult Day Genie Kiosk app on an iPad, sign in with your center account, and choose that tablet's features from Settings → Kiosk in the web app. The step-by-step guide is Using the Kiosk app.
Run your first day
- Check members in as they arrive, using face or manual check-in.
- Record activities, meals, and care notes from the dashboard during the day.
- Check members out as they leave so the record shows a complete visit.
- At the end of the day, open the attendance report and confirm it matches the room.
From day one, every attendance entry lands in an append-only history — corrections add new entries instead of rewriting old ones. Read Attendance and face check-in to understand how that record works.
